Denis Suka created his Instagram page @theyachtmogul in 2018 with nothing but a passion for luxury yachts and a determination to grow his brand. Now, with over 312,000 followers, ‘The Yacht Mogul’ has come a long way. ‘I believe the secret of fast growth and success is to understand what people want,’ Suka told Superyachts.com, ‘Not only in the yachting industry but in other areas of life too.’
Suka knew that he wanted to design a superyacht concept from day one, he goes on. Approaching young designer Bhushan Powar - known for projects such as 64m shark-inspired Glauca and 90m Project Mori - Suka’s brief was to ‘bring the industry something different’. After two years of engaging a global fan base with his yachting content, the Instagrammer had a very clear idea of what he wanted.
The 91m superyacht concept Mogul appeals to the highest end of the luxury yacht market. Built around the philosophy of connection to the sea, featuring panoramic 180 degree sea views from the full-beam owner’s suite located on the main deck forward, Mogul ‘takes the name to the next level’ for a ‘wealthy, visionary owner’. Other exceptional features include a large infinity pool on the lower deck aft, as well as a fully equipped beach club and unique slanted bow.
‘Influencers have a lot to bring to the table, coming up with innovative ideas of new age designs,’ Suka says. ‘The design world is changing, and it’s more about how we as influencers have to put our ideas out there and collaborate in the market.’
Social media influence will never replace the technical knowhow and expertise of yacht design. But there is certainly something to be said for a collaboration of the two.
