Speakers Announced for Monaco Yacht Summit 2021
The finalised list of speakers and topics at the Monaco Yacht Summit 2021 was announced this week. The list comprises a panel of industry experts from yacht designers to brokers. We take a look at the industry names that are involved.
The Monaco Yacht Show is the most prestigious event of the yachting calendar and on the eve of its commencement the Yacht Club de Monaco plays host to the Monaco Yacht Summit. The summit brings together a panel of experts to share their collective insights on the subjects of yacht building, design, management, charter and purchase.
This year the summit will be held on Tuesday 21st of September and will cover key information that will be vital for new or future charter clients and owners before they enter the esteemed Monaco Yacht Show the following day.
As a former naval architect with more than 18 years of yachting experience, Martin Hager, editor-in-chief of the leading German superyacht magazine Boote Exclusiv, will be moderating the summit which will consist of four panels: Business Report, Charter, New Build, and From Design to Delivery.
Business Report
Will cover perspectives on industry trends and aspects of chartering, buying, building, and operating a superyacht.
The panellists will include:
- Jonathan Beckett, CEO, Burgess [Broker]
- Michael Breman, Sales Director, Lürssen [Shipyard]
- Rose Damen, Managing Director, Damen/Amels [Shipyard]
- Aino-Leena Grapin, CEO, Winch Design [Yacht Design]
Charter
Will cover the essential ingredients that will combine to deliver a successful charter. From how to choose your superyacht and your broker to how to optimise a yacht for charter.
The panellists will include:
- Margarita Amam, CEO, IMS GmbH [Refit Shipyard]
- Charly Birkett, Co-founder and CEO, Y.CO [Broker]
New Build
Will cover the practicalities involved in commissioning and building a new construction project. Bringing the client’s perspective to the forefront, the panel will provide guidance for the essential steps involved whilst undertaking a new yacht construction project.
The panellists will included:
- Tim Schommer, Partner/Lawyer, Clyde & Co [Lawyers in yachting]
- Derek Munro, owners’ representative, Divergent Yachting [Yacht Management]
- ·Daniele Moltedo, Custom Head of Manufacturing & Warranty Department Manager, Benetti [Shipyard]

From Design to Delivery
Covering a singular case study, this panel coincides with the much anticipated world premier of the megayacht Viva. The impressive luxury vessel was delivered in 2021 and will be appearing at the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show. The 94m megayacht includes hybrid propulsion, a key environmental feature that will surely be discussed by the panel.
The panellist will include:
- The team from the Dutch shipyard Feadship will present all of the key stages in the construction of the 94m Viva.
The Monaco Yacht Summit is an exclusive event dedicated to owners or participants with a current or future yacht project. Participation is dependent on approval.
