Standout Superyacht Sales of 2022

By George Bains

From iconic flagships to award-winning beauties, plenty of big-name superyachts have changed ownership over the last year. Join us in taking a look back at some of the biggest superyacht sales completed throughout 2022…

INFINITY – 88.5m

In April, Burgess announced the sale of Oceanco superyacht M/Y INFINITY, with the renowned brokerage representing both the buyer and the seller.

While the buyer and price remain undisclosed, the iconic 88.5m superyacht Infinity is certain to thrill her new Owner.

Featuring a timeless white exterior design by award-winning designer and naval architect, Espen Øino, the monumental vessel is one of Oceanco’s most spectacular, yet secretive, yacht builds.

Not only boasting an impressive exterior design, INFINITY’s interior, although not revealed to the public eye, can be expected to be one of luxury. Created by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and David Kleinberg Design, her interior offers accommodation for up to 14 guests across seven spacious cabins.

WANDERLUST – 85.3m

The second hull of Australian yachtbuilder SilverYachts’ Silver World Explorer series was sold in early 2022. The 85.3m superyacht, originally known by her project name GLOBALFAST, was launched in October 2022 and renamed WANDERLUST.

As all superyachts built by Silver Yachts, WANDERLUST boasts a design penned by one of the industry’s most renowned figures in Espen Øino. Developing on the success of BOLD, Espen and the in-house Silver Yachts team have designed a project than marries elegance with impressive explorer capabilities to roam the world.

Since its inception, Silver Yachts has been committed to building in aluminium to achieve fast and sleek superyachts. The Silver World Explorer reflects these values while also offering her owner incredible volume, range, and efficiency to experience the most remote regions of the world. WANDERLUST reaches a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots, with a 24/7 commercial helipad and plenty of storage for tenders and toys, made more accessible by an aft deck crane.

SECRET – 82m

For the first time since her launch by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2013, the 82m custom superyacht SECRET changed hands.

Asking at around the €78,500,000 mark at the time of her sale, Matt Emerson from Burgess represented the seller during the negotiations, while Andrew Bond of Fraser Yachts stood in for the buyer.

Penned by Australian designer Sam Sorgiovanni, the sophisticated M/Y SECRET boasts clean and distinctive lines, with a global reputation that made her one of the most notable yachts on the market.

Her open, versatile layout penned by J.W. Harris is complimented by a contemporary nod to the 1920s and Art Deco era. Secret can sleep up to 12 guests in six luxurious staterooms, with an additional seventh able to host up to three children or staff.

TATIANA – 80m

IYC made a remarkable start to 2022 with the sale of 80m Bilgin Yachts flagship TATIANA. The largest Turkish-built superyacht was sold for an undisclosed price by Monaco-based IYC broker Leo Jordil. Alex Krykanyuk of Fraser Yachts was responsible for introducing the buyer.

Delivered in 2020 and stealing the limelight at the Monaco Yacht Show last year, the first unit of Bilgin’s 263 series sports a sleek and stylish design by Unique Yacht Design.

Her impeccably appointed H2 Yacht Design interiors strike a perfect balance between comfort and luxury. A 30-foot long freshwater swimming pool on the lower deck, second glass-bottomed pool on the main deck and jaw-dropping 1,200 square foot beach club are amongst the yacht’s many highlights.

Accommodating 12 guests in eight luxurious cabins, complete with dedicated owner’s suite, TATIANA also houses 20 crew members to attend to guests’ every need. Previously listed for charter with IYC from $775,000 per week, TATIANA is a versatile vessel built to IMO Tier III compliance.

VSY STELLA MARIS – 72.1m

Less than three month after bringing her to the market, SuperYachtsMonaco and World Yacht Group announced the sale of award-winning superyacht – VSY STELLA MARIS.

The efficient efforts of Joan Plana Palao from World Yacht Group, who represented the buyer, and Simon Ting from SuperYachtsMonaco, who represented the seller, saw STELLA MARIS’ quick sale close less than three months after she was listed for sale.

72.1m STELLA MARIS represents an incredible example of the meticulous superyacht craftsmanship of VSY. Featuring expert naval architecture from Laurent Giles and boasting an exceptionally sleek exterior from the world-renown architect Espen Ønio, STELLA MARIS offers her new owner plenty of elegant exterior space. Her staggered internal decks and impressive deckhead height of 2.7m, similar to those of a normal house ceiling, are fitted with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, resulting in a spacious and bright internal layout.
