Superyacht Spotlight: ROCINANTE’s Refined Refit and Explorer Spirit

By Nora Hart

The 78.4-metre Lürssen motor yacht ROCINANTE has re-emerged onto the sales market following a sweeping 2024 refit, offering buyers the chance to acquire a proven Northern European vessel with renewed technical features and global cruising credentials. Listed with Y.CO, she blends quality engineering with a lifestyle-led layout designed for privacy, wellness and far-reaching adventure.

Delivered in 2008, ROCINANTE was built in steel and aluminium to exterior lines by Espen Øino, her silhouette defined by crisp geometry and a poised stance. In 2024 she returned to Lürssen for a 10-month transformation that encompassed a newly configured bridge, a full exterior repaint, comprehensive AV/IT enhancements and the completion of her 15-year class special survey. The result is a yacht that feels not only revitalised but resolutely future-facing.

Her 2,334GT of internal volume and generous 13.5-metre beam translate into expansive, light-filled interiors by Alberto Pinto. Large windows draw the horizon deep into the living spaces, while a refined material palette lends warmth and understated sophistication. The upper deck encapsulates her indoor-outdoor ethos: a circular dining area is bordered by outward-opening windows, dissolving the boundary between saloon and sea and creating an ideal setting for entertaining.

Accommodation is arranged for up to 14 guests across seven cabins. The Owner’s suite occupies its own private domain, complete with office, twin dressing rooms and en suite, and extends onto a secluded deck terrace with Jacuzzi and broad sunpads. Four substantial VIP cabins enhance her suitability for multi-generational living, while a crew of 26 ensures seamless operation behind the scenes.

Wellbeing is woven into every aspect of the yacht. A dedicated spa complex incorporates a hammam, steam room, massage suite and hair and beauty salon, while a fully equipped gym opens onto a fold-out balcony suspended above the waterline. Across her decks, multiple lounging areas and a sundeck Jacuzzi provide vantage points from which to savour each anchorage, all connected by a lift serving every level.

True to her explorer spirit, ROCINANTE is fitted with a helideck capable of accommodating an EC135 helicopter, complete with refuelling facilities, unlocking remote destinations and expedition-style itineraries. Twin 2,682hp Caterpillar engines deliver a top speed of 17 knots and a range of approximately 6,000 nautical miles at cruising speed, reinforcing her credentials as a capable long-distance voyager.

Soon to be on display at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, ROCINANTE stands as a compelling proposition: a large-volume Lürssen with renewed technical assurance, elegant interiors and the autonomy to roam far beyond the conventional cruising circuit.
