ORYX, a 40.2m motor yacht, was bought with cryptocurrency as the Monaco-based brokerage announce it is accepting payment for goods and services with BitPay.

The deal for the yacht that forms part of Benetti’s luxurious Supreme 132 series was brokered by Juan Andrade from SuperYachtsMonaco who represented the buyer.

He said: “The ability to accept cryptocurrency enables SuperYachtsMonaco to attract new customers and sales by tapping the massive crypto marketplace.”

“BitPay manages the entire process and makes it easy to receive crypto from the customer and adapt their approach to each client’s personal situation.”

The partnership between SuperYachtsMonaco and BitPay is an exciting prospect for the yacht brokerage firm.

This is because by accepting cryptocurrency it has increased its payment options whilst simultaneously it reduces high fees and improves both payment transparency and efficiency.

Using BitPay, SuperYachtsMonaco receives settlement the next business day directly to its bank account in its local fiat currency Euros.

The cryptocurrency service is also thought to eliminate transaction fraud, enable borderless payments in cryptocurrency and presents no price volatility to SuperYachts Monaco.

BitPay’s CMO Bill Zielke, sees the announcement as the beginning of an exciting partnership between the superyacht industry and the crypto world.

SuperYachtsMonaco realizes the potential for crypto to transform the superyacht industry as BitPay has seen a significant increase in volumes related to the purchase of luxury goods.”
