S/Y ELEONORA Remains in Class After Three Year Refit

By Freya Cottrell

Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage have announced the near completion of the refit of the 162ft classic schooner replica S/Y ELEONORA. ELEONORA has passed the MCA and BV inspections with flying colours following her three year refit encompassing full inspections and services of her standard rigging, winches and an impressive list of engineering improvements.

With her steel hull and teak superstructure, ELEONORA is an exact replica of one of the most infamous racing schooners in the world, Westward. A sail yacht designed in 1910 by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, the American naval architect with a string of undefeated America’s Cup defenders under his belt.

Launched in 2000 ELEONORA has followed in the footsteps of Westward and has spent her fair share of time participating in a number of classic sailing regattas whilst playing host to an exclusive roster of charter guests.

When under sail, ELEONORA can only be described as an astonishing beauty. Her slender hull slices an elegant pathway through the water and bountiful interior exudes luxurious comfort for those long cruising days.

Her refit works included a large number of  upgrades and overhauls. The most prominent of which was the complete rigging refit, an impressive feat for this classic sailing superyacht, plus the varnishing of her wooden blocks.

ELEONORA is currently available for sale and Bernard Galley is confident that any prospective buyer will be suitably impressed with the overall status of the yacht following her refit. The crew of ELEONORA have been praised for their hard work and effort during the three year process as they successfully managed to complete the maintenance in conjunction with the refit schedule. The crew continue with a programme of maintenance that will lead into preparation for the winter season.

The crew of ELEONORA remains on standby to prepare for any viewings, surveys and sea trials that might be desired by a prospective buyer.
