SYCOM’s Best Superyacht Exteriors of 2020

By George Bains

Some incredible superyachts have been launched over the course of 2020, with innovative and efficient solutions to contemporary issues becoming more and more a central consideration in the design process. This shift in focus has not hindered the industry’s flair for developing sublime timeless designs. Here we take a look at some of the best exterior profiles of 2020…

62m Voice - CRN

The delivery of 62m superyacht M/Y 137 in July marked something of an evolution for CRN. The Italian shipyard announced that the sporty and aggressive profile of the yacht was resonant of the ‘powerful personality’ of her owner.

Voice has an exceptionally distinctive exterior design, with sharp, clear lines which credit CRN’s reputation for bespoke, full-custom projects. Designed by Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard, Voice is a statement of contemporary yachting style with a strong ‘Made in Italy’ feel.

142m Nord (Project Opus) – Lurssen

142m superyacht Opus was certainly one of the most highly anticipated Top100 launches of 2020. Not even the grey Bremen skies could dull the excitement as Project Opus left the Lurssen shipyard in July.

Another remarkable design from Nuvolari & Lenard, Nord is typical of a Lurssen superyacht for her unique and progressive exterior profile. Perhaps one of the more outlandish designs to come from Lurssen, Nord boasts a multi-palette colour scheme of blue, white and black with her name embossed upon a blunt bow.

99.95m MoonriseFeadship

Feadship made a fast start to 2020 with the launch of 100m Moonrise, the largest superyacht by waterline length to be built in the Netherlands.

The exterior design by Studio De Voogt is certainly worthy of such a monumental project for the esteemed Dutch shipyard. Sleek, elegant lines are beautifully married with masculine appeal, while long hull windows and a striking vertical bow ensure that this yacht will be a head-turner throughout her lifetime. An entirely glass superstructure reflects a growing trend of superyacht design, while a luxurious beach club aft comes complete with gym and wellness centre.

68m SoaringAbeking & Rasmussen

The launch and delivery of 68m Soaring early in 2020 added another bespoke masterpiece to the Abeking & Rasmussen fleet.

Soaring takes inspiration from the elegant flight of an eagle, boasting a smooth and sleek exterior design in line with her namesake. In keeping with the ever-evolving demands of the modern yacht owner, Soaring is capable of long-range expeditions to far-flung regions of the world, while at over 1,500GT she offers her guests phenomenal volume and luxurious social spaces.
