Tankoa Marks Record Year with Sale of First 450

By George Bains

Tankoa Yachts has announced the sale of the first hull of its new 45-metre superyacht to a North American client, making 2021 a record year for the Genoese shipyard.

The T450 superyacht features both exterior and interior design by Giorgio M. Cassetta, and will be built in steel and aluminium. The timeless exterior profile penned by Cassetta is in line with the styling synonymous with Tankoa with well-balanced lines, while the designer has added a bold vertical element to the superstructure. Cassetta will work with the owner to create an interior design which reflects the needs and interests of his young family.

“It has been a real pleasure to work with this client and his team,” said Claudio Corvino, Tankoa’s Sales Manager. “He came out with brilliant ideas and Giorgio Cassetta turned them into a fantastic final design and layout. Now we are looking forward to a pleasant and fun building process all together. We are also proud to have sold this yacht to a client who will certainly help to develop even more our presence in the American market.”

Thanks to the flexibility of the platform, the owner has been able to request many customisations to make this a personal vessel. These requests include much larger windows on the main deck and a longer upper deck salon, which has raised the gross tonnage from 435GT to 450GT to provide greater interior volume. These changes have been made without affecting the finely balanced proportions and aesthetic of the yacht.

“This contract makes 2021 a record year for Tankoa,” says Eva Orsi, President of Tankoa Yachts. “For me, the most important thing is to see that our commercial strategies and investments are going the right way: we have strengthened the sales department and invested in new products to offer a wider range of fantastic yachts to the market.

“At the same time, we have also improved internal industrial processes,” continues Eva Orsi. “This year’s results are the outcome of these strategies and hard work.”

A fitting way to end a record year, we look forward to following the development of the first T450 on the way to her scheduled delivery in 2023.
