Tankoa Yachts Begins Acquisition of Cantieri di Pisa

By Jenna Mehdi

Tankoa Yachts has begun the administrative process of acquiring the 76 year old Cantieri di Pisa shipyard, it has been announced. In a press release, the Italian yard commented that the acquisition would allow it to expand its production potential in Genova as well as resurrect a prestigious and much cherished brand.

The notable Tuscan shipyard Cantieri di Pisa specialising in the planing motor yacht field cherishes a long history dating back to its foundation on the river Arno in 1945. After 76 years and over 600 yachts built, Cantieri di Pisa has experienced a reshuffle into the hands of Tankoa Yachts after its previous acquisition by Philippe Bacou and Sea-Finance last year.

‘We trust that the technical and administrative procedures will have a positive outcome over the next few weeks so that we can begin work to gradually reintegrate resources and become operational,’ says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa, ‘We would also like to thank Mayor Michele Conti and engineer  Salvatore Pisano for their support and assistance in establishing our industrial plan.’

Tankoa has confirmed it has begun the due diligence process for the 100% acquisition of Cantieri di Pisa. This latest expansion move comes not long after the launch of 50m superyacht Olokun in September last year and the sale of the fourth hull of the all-aluminium S501 series.
