Team Italia to Become Part of Rolls-Royce
Already strongly positioned in the Italian market, Team Italia is to become part of Rolls-Royce. A collaboration that began in 2019 with the realisation of joint developments, the two companies have decided that the best way to realise strategic growth plans would be for Rolls-Royce to acquire Team Italia.
Team Italia serves major Italian yacht builders, designing and developing integrated bridge, navigation and automation systems. The company has built a high market share in the Italian yacht industry since its foundation in 2000 and thus the global yacht market.
Denise Kurtulus, Vice President Matine in the Rolls-Royce business unit power systems, has commented: ‘The acquisition is a logical step in our journey to becoming an integrated solutions provider for the yacht industry. Our products complement each other perfectly and with this step, we expand our solutions portfolio significantly in order to enhance our market position and create further benefits for our customers.’
Rolls Royce offers leading-edge integrated bridge products as well as many functions for yachts, including automation, navigation systems, and regulation. Providing access to global and yacht markets, Rolls-Royce will greatly benefit Team Italia regarding their worldwide distribution network.
Massimo Minnella, Managing Director of Team Italia, has expressed her delight at the acquisition of Team Italia by Rolls-Royce, commenting: ‘We strongly believe that in order to implement a structured expansion and maintain the high level of continuity and growth that will secure the future of our company, we need an excellent partner and marine expert like Rolls-Royce Power Systems at our side and we are excited about this because we see excellent prospects for reaping the benefits together in the global luxury yacht market.’
Newly branded Team Italia s.r.I. will continue to operate in Italy, with a workforce of almost 60 who will be employed by Rolls-Royce, with Massimo Minella keeping their role as Managing Director and Daniele Ceccanti as Technical Director.
Team Italia Marine s.r.I will remain the trusted partner for its customers whilst Rolls-Royce will market systems outside Italy under the mtu NautlQ name. More than 300 yachts are equipped with Team Italian systems, regardless of the propulsion engine installed. Nicola Camuffo has commented on this, stressing: ‘We will continue to develop and customize our integrated bridges and automation as specific products for each need regardless of the propulsion system on board.’
This acquisition will no doubt lead to great and exciting things, for Team Italia, and for the yacht industry on the whole.
"The acquisition is a logical step in our journey to becoming an integrated solutions provider for the yacht industry."
