Next-Generation Catamaran Hits the Market for the First Time

By Nora Hart

A highly unconventional 44-metre Tecnomar has been listed for sale for the first time, offering buyers the chance to own one of the most visually distinctive catamarans to emerge in recent years. Engineered by Lateral Naval Architects, THIS IS IT is represented by Michel Chryssicopoulos of IYC and Royal Yacht International and stands firmly apart from traditional superyacht design.

Conceived as a clean break from convention, the futuristic multihull made her public debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2023, where her sculptural form and asymmetric layout drew immediate attention. Designed in-house by Tecnomar with naval architecture by Lateral Naval Architects, the yacht is wrapped in approximately 600 square metres of sweeping, curved glass, giving her superstructure a fluid, almost architectural quality and allowing light to flood deep into the interior.

Inside, the design continues to challenge expectations. Created by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of The Italian Sea Group, the interior takes cues from high-end automotive styling, combining suede, polished metals and leathers within a restrained, neutral palette. The main saloon is arranged around a central bar and games space, leading into a circular dining area for up to 12 guests, illuminated by a bespoke crystal light installation that acts as a focal point.

Guest accommodation is arranged for 12, with the owner’s suite occupying a prime position on the upper deck. Featuring an impressive 3.3-metre ceiling height, an organically shaped skylight and a private panoramic terrace, the suite has been conceived as a serene retreat, blurring lines between indoor and outdoor living. Elsewhere, a dramatic vertical garden extends across two decks, reinforcing the yacht’s emphasis on natural light and spatial flow.

Outdoor amenities include a dedicated spa area with treatment room, sauna and shower, while she is also equipped with an extensive selection of toys and tenders, including a 15-metre Technohull chase boat. Forward-thinking design extends to the wheelhouse, where a high-tech, panoramic command centre delivers 180-degree views and a distinctly futuristic atmosphere.

Powered by twin MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, THIS IS IT reaches a top speed of 19 knots and cruises at 17 knots, with a range of 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Now available for sale for the first time, THIS IS IT represents a rare chance to acquire a truly unique catamaran that sits at the intersection of experimental design, advanced engineering and modern luxury.
