The Concept We Can’t Stop Thinking About

By Sophia Spanton

Months may have passed since her February unveiling, yet LILY still feels like a glimpse of the future. Like her namesake, she continues to bloom long after her first appearance. Revealed in Dubai earlier this year, the 101‑metre concept from Vripack and Oceanco fractures the limits of yacht design, drawing her form and philosophy from the resilience of a water lily. In revisiting her now, her ideas resonate even more powerfully: a blueprint for what tomorrow’s yachts could become.

Her features are more than aesthetic feats; they’re ideas that continue to shape how we think about life on board. From her smooth, uninterrupted exterior to the architectural play between openness and privacy, each element pushes the boundaries of what a yacht can be. These are the details we still can't stop thinking about.

Seamless exterior and one-way glass
By eliminating traditional side walkways, Vripack gave LILY a fluid, uninterrupted profile, sleek, sculptural, and completely her own. Her one-way glass windows protect privacy while preserving a direct link to the sea. As Co-Creative Director Marnix Hoekstra notes, the brief was clear: ‘the key requirement from Oceanco was to conceive a yacht for the change makers who want to leave a mark’.

The revolutionary leisure deck
At her core lies the 'leisure deck,' a signature innovation defined by a four‑metre‑high ceiling opening to a wellness space with a pool, gym, and watersports gallery. Below, storage for four tenders and a helicopter underscores her blend of elegance and capability.

Varied deck heights
Inside, split levels and shifting deck heights flow toward a glass mezzanine connecting social and private realms. Nine guest cabins, an open‑plan cinema, and a playful children’s nest, reached by suspension bridge, reimagine how space can move and breathe on board.

The owner’s private sanctuary
The owner’s retreat crowns the yacht with a 315‑square‑metre terrace and open‑air lily pond from which an elevator rises through the water. This serene, cinematic moment captures her essence: art meeting architecture. Below, concealed crew corridors ensure seamless service and complete discretion.

Environmental technology
Beneath her artistry lies LILY’s environmental intelligence. In collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects, she integrates the Energy Transition Platform with hybrid Dynafin propulsion and fuel cell systems, uniting performance with responsible innovation.

Design philosophy
LILY embodies Vripack and Oceanco’s pursuit of a boundaryless onboard experience. Her design defies convention, valuing originality and freedom of expression as the true measure of progress.

LILY might be a concept, but she is also a catalyst. Seamless, sustainable, and visionary, she redefines what connection looks like at sea: between form and function, humanity and horizon.
