The Monaco Yacht Show 2022 Round Up
The Monaco Yacht Show remains the most anticipated event of the yachting calendar. Having now closed its doors on the 31st edition, the show continues to evolve and excite its thousands of attendees.
Superyachts.com were honoured once again to have the opportunity to speak with a wide variety of key players in the industry, from iconic designers to ship-building giants.
Our brand new Interview Studio acted as a podium for leading announcements and innovative discussion; situated in the heart of the stunning Port Hercules.
This year's show was bigger and better than ever after being fuelled by a number of exciting changes, from an all-new Adventure Area to a never-before-seen Sustainability Hub; the first of its kind ever seen at the show.
The Hub was created as part of the show's eco-friendly approach which was first initiated in 2005, serving as an educational and networking epicentre to raise awareness on environmental issues within the Monegasque and international yachting community.
"The show’s new exhibition area is designed to showcase forms of technology that will bring concrete improvements to the world of yachting," says Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director at MYS.
"We are making every effort to find, verify, promote, and reward sustainable solutions, whilst encouraging their use and bringing about much needed change."
The new Adventure Area displayed a range of day-trip and sports tenders, luxury and off-road vehicles, water toys, high-tech gadgets, helicopters and tailor-made programmes to explore the planet’s most remote destinations.
With hundreds of superyachts on display at the show this year, the spotlight was deservedly placed on Lürssen 115m AHPO.
Built for a repeat Lürssen client, she features superior design paired with unparalleled cruising comfort for the whole family.
“We have one yacht here, the 114m Ahpo. This is the third Lürssen of that owner. This is really the yacht that he dreamt up himself. I really hope you get to see it, it’s quite spectacular", says Peter Lürssen, CEO.
“We will see very green yachts in the next 3-5 years. We aim to deliver one yacht that can 20+ nights on the water that uses a fuel cell. However, we still have a long way to go. It is not the final result that we are aiming for, but we will get there.”
Superyachts.com will be delivering more interviews, and publishing more exclusive insights throughout the week to keep you up to speed and provide an illustrated snapshot of this year's show.
