The Most Notable Industry Partnerships of 2023

By Frances Flannagan

2023 has seen a diverse range of new partnerships across the industry, from iconic new design collaborations, to supporting a new idyllic luxury lifestyle destination. These partnerships showcase the harmonious ways in which companies throughout the industry work together to ensure the best possible solutions for their area of expertise, as well as for the superyacht market in general.

Burgess x Starship Yachts

In January, Burgess announced a partnership agreement with luxury yacht dealer Starship Yachts in Asia, designed specifically to target the Hong Kong and Macau market. The brokerage first began operations in Asia in 2015, establishing five offices across the region.

Edwin Ho, CEO and Owner, was chosen to act as the chief representative for Burgess in this region: ‘We are delighted to partner with Burgess as they bring exceptional expertise and experience in the superyacht market globally, which we are excited to tap and bring to our clients interested in exploring the larger yachts segment.’

The Asian market has potential for immense growth, and the partnership between the notable yacht dealer and a global yacht brokerage represents a significant step towards expanding the yachting industry in this region.

Team Italia x Rolls-Royce

In Summer 2023, Rolls-Royce acquired Team Italia following a successful collaboration that began in 2019. Team Italia has built a high market share in the Italian yacht industry since its foundation in 2000, serving major Italian yacht builders.

Denise Kurtulus, Vice President Matine in the Rolls-Royce business unit power systems, commented: ‘The acquisition is a logical step in our journey to becoming an integrated solutions provider for the yacht industry. Our products complement each other perfectly and with this step, we expand our solutions portfolio significantly in order to enhance our market position and create further benefits for our customers.’

Rolls-Royce not only offers leading integrated bridge products and many functions for yachts, but also provides access to global and yacht markets, ensuring to greatly benefit Team Italia regarding its worldwide distribution network.

Ferretti Group x Fornasetti

In July, a new chapter of Italian design began when Ferretti Group partnered with Fornasetti. This high profile partnership was set to be an iconic collaboration, with both Ferretti and Fornasetti basing their passions on the pursuit of excellence and innovation to create timeless beauty.

Both companies are defined by a ‘Made in Italy’ culture, committed to creating prestigious products. Ferretti is renowned for its customisation offerings that allow for customers’ personalities to be reflected in unique aesthetic details, whilst Fornasetti endows everyday objects with high cultural value and artistic style. Like the attention to detail placed on the ‘Made to Measure’ aspects of Ferretti yachts, all Fornasetti creations are exclusively hand-made by skilled artisans, ensuring each and every product is a stunning art multiple.

This partnership sees luxury yacht building becoming a meeting point at the intersection of art, design, and navigation, promising a plethora of exciting new projects.

Sindalah x JLS Yachts

In the lead up to the opening of NEOM’s first superyacht destination, it was announced that Sindalah was to form a partnership with JLS Yachts. The marine company was appointed as a ‘key partner superyacht agency’ for Sindalah, which will offer a comprehensive range of world-class services on the island, increasing the comfort and pleasure of the yachting community.

JLS has uniquely positioned itself as the ‘one-stop’ agency for all marine requirements, with a comprehensive understanding of the Middle Eastern marine environment and a commitment to providing the best service possible for their clients.

Captain Stephan Corbett, CEO at JLS Yachts said, ‘We are very pleased and honored to be selected as a key partner for NEOM’s magnificent Sindalah Island on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coastline… As the largest and most experienced superyacht agency in the Middle East and northern Indian Ocean, we look forward to bringing our unique and rewarding services to the Red Sea and beyond.’

Burgess x Sindalah

A second exciting partnership for the idyllic superyacht destination, NEOM announced a partnership with Burgess, offering its full range of services to Sidalah’s yachting clientele. This collaboration supports NEOM’s vision of Sindalah becoming a global superyacht destination with premium services, as Burgess is a world-leading superyacht provider.

Burgess will provide a diverse range of luxury services, enhancing the island’s global yachting offering. These will include yacht management, charter and charter management, sales and purchase, yacht insurance, new build and refit projects, yacht marketing and procurement.

The partnership is supported by the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA), an authority which is the key enabler and regulator of Red Sea coastal tourism activities, placing a significant emphasis on sustainability.

"We are delighted to partner with Burgess as they bring exceptional expertise and experience in the superyacht market globally, which we are excited to tap and bring to our clients interested in exploring the larger yachts segment."
