The New Generation of Sports Boats: Pershing GTX80 Launched

By Frances Flannagan

Pershing has announced that the second model in its GTX range, the GTX80, has been launched. Her design reprises the philosophy behind this new generation of sports boats, with meticulous attention placed on comfort combined with sportiness and performance.

Following in the wake of the GTX range’s flagship launched in Spring 2023, the 24m Pershing GTX80 is a model characterised by fun, total control and unchallenged supremacy. She is the result of a collaboration between Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari, Vallicelli Design and the Group’s Engineering Department.

This new design boasts generous open spaces, with two decks and a sportbridge, able to accommodate up to eight guests across four cabins. She also has a number of striking design features and architectural elements that are new for a sports motor yacht of this size. Her hull profile, for instance, has a near vertical bow and a continuous sheer line, whilst the bulwarks in the stern serve a dual function of incorporating the winches and converting into lateral terraces, resulting in even more contact with the water.

The stern platform has three different positions, able to be raised to integrate into the aft living area, and also able to launch the tenders, highlighting how her features have been optimised to ensure maximum liveability. Impressively, the GTX80 also has a spacious 23 square metres sundeck, which is 60 percent larger than the category average.

Her interiors reflect Pershing’s cruising style, with her main deck salon including exterior glazing that allows for seamless visual contact with the water. This is repeated in the raised helm section of the bow that offers 360 degree visibility, allowing guests to experience unobstructed views. An innovative open galley-bar layout is also a new development: it is fully integrated into the lounge setting and opens out into the cockpit, enhancing the interior design work on the main deck.

A plethora of stunning interior decor choices have been executed, with the ceiling panels painted a metallic silver with intersecting diagonal LED lights to ensure uniform light diffusion across the deck. The master cabin features cloud-effect blue leather panelling, showcasing the ultimate stylistic expression underpinning this project.

Pershing’s technological expertise is not only seen in the GTX80’s engineering, but also in the materials chosen to increase luxury onboard. Each material is three-dimensional, from sky blue leather to metallic lacquers, with colour tones that appear to change depending on the point of view, ensuring the design remains exciting and fresh throughout the yacht.

The GTX80 can reach a top speed of 34 knots and will have a CE Class A certification: the safest for boats of this size.

"Pershing GTX80 is a masterpiece of balance and architectural harmony in which design meets technology to elevate and transform a sporty motor yacht into a work of avant-garde nautical art."
