The Superyacht Gathering Gains New Sponsorship from Y.CO

The Superyacht Gathering, held on August 23 - 24 in Fiji, has gained a new sponsorship from Y.CO. The event is significant within the industry for striving towards positive environmental change and encouraging sustainable exploration of the Pacific region.

The Superyacht Gathering is an event which brings together key players in the Pacific Yachting Community with the aim to promote positive change in the region. The two-day event offers the opportunities of networking with the top superyacht service providers, allowing for attendees to expand their knowledge of the top cruising areas and support the Pacific yachting community.

The significance of the Superyacht Gathering within the industry is their dedication to being part of the greater good; whilst bringing together industry players to promote the Pacific as a region worth exploring, the event seeks to create a movement which inspires change within the wider superyacht community in terms of sustainability, technological innovations and environmental research. They also support ocean-based initiatives by making financial contributions to charities and allowing causes to present at the Superyacht Gathering.

This year’s event sees the new sponsorship of Y.CO, who have already established themselves within the Pacific yachting community with an office in Auckland that supports clients and yachting operations in the region, as well as seven charter yachts. Orion, a 22m Sunreef catamaran, is exclusively for charter by Y.CO and will host attendees for a sail day on the final day of the Superyacht Gathering. Perfect for exploration with a shallow draft, she has access to even the most remote bays, the perfect vessel to experience the rich beauty that Fiji has to offer, a small representative of the spectacular region that is the Pacific.

The benefits of Y.CO sponsoring the Superyacht Gathering are their already highly established status as one of the leading yacht companies in the world. Whilst the Superyacht Gathering has limited attendees to enjoy exclusive environments and experience-based events, Y.CO’s sponsorship will increase attention to the Gathering, and hence this region of the world, without impacting their event which remains small in order to foster personal, progressive relationships. Increased awareness in the Superyacht Gathering means an increased awareness of the positive change they are promoting as well as sustainability within the Pacific, facilitated by Y.CO without negatively impacting the established event.

Charlie Birkett, Co-Founder and CEO of Y.CO commented, ‘Y.CO has always been at the forefront of sending clients to different, ‘off-the-beaten-track’ type destinations, in addition to all the more traditional cruising grounds, and we have a lot of experience planning the more complex logistics for this kind of yachting. Our sponsorship of The Superyacht Gathering is just one way in which we are supporting our many clients who choose to explore the beautiful and largely undiscovered Pacific region. We hope that, through our support of this event, we can help encourage more sustainable exploration of these unparalleled cruising grounds.’

‘The South Pacific is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after yachting destinations, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of the growing popularity of yachting in the region.’ added Fleur Tomlinson of Y.CO Auckland. ‘With so many of our high-profile yachts chartering here, it's great to be able to showcase what these beautiful islands have to offer to our clients.’
