Snorkelling is undeniably one of the many highlights of the superyacht lifestyle: the ability to explore the sea and immerse yourself in some of the most mesmorising displays of nature. We take a look at three of the top snorkelling spots that are close to a superyacht marina, to inspire your next snorkelling trip.

Turks & Caicos - Blue Haven Marina

Blue Haven Marina is located in the Leeward Passage of Turks & Caicos, on the east coast of Providenciales. The main dock features 61 slips, with five mega yacht berths and 30 superyacht berths with a maximum length of 67m and no beam restrictions.

The marina has a comprehensive range of amenities, from on-site provisioning to catering and concierge services, making it a great location for anchorage. It has 24 hour gated dock security with an integrated fire fighting system, making it a true haven when it comes to safety.

Directly to the east of the marina is the Princess Alexandra Nature Reserve and Mangrove Cay, in which you can find Coral Gardens bordering the western edge of Grace Bay Beach. Also known as The Bight Reef, it is an excellent snorkelling spot that is home to a spectacular array of fish and marine life.

Common sightings at this spot include green turtles, hawksbill turtles and southern brown stingrays, alongside impressive coral reefs made up of hard and soft corals. A plethora of fish species inhabit the reef, from queen angelfish to barracudas, giving you the full experience of marine life in Turks & Caicos.

Whitsundays, Queensland - Coral Sea Marina

Located at the heart of the iconic Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays, Coral Sea Marina has made a name for itself as a premier superyacht destination on the east coast of Australia. It is located at the gateway to the 74 Whitsunday Islands, making it the perfect port for superyachts wishing to explore the marine paradise of this part of Australia.

The award-winning marina features premium services which attract yachts from all across the globe, setting the benchmark for superyacht marina facilities. The facilities on offer ensure that the very best guest experience is achieved, with premium berthing available for vessels up to 80m. It also has a vibrant marina village, developed with superyacht owners, captains and crew in mind.

The Great Barrier Reef is an unmissable snorkelling destination: a natural phenomenon that is home to thousands of species of marine life. It is listed as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, even visible from outer space as the largest living structure on earth.

Snorkelling is not the only activity that can be undertaken at the Great Barrier Reef, with the opportunity to dive in the gardens and lagoons of outer reefs, deep-sea fishing, or even watching the annual migration of the humpback whales.

The two best locations on offer are the Stepping Stones, which consists of more than 18 flat-topped coral pinnacles lined in a row, and Little Fairey Inlet which offers exceptional snorkelling prospects and the opportunity to swim with a wonderful spectrum of marine life.

Seychelles - Eden Island Marina

Eden Island Marina is the Seychelles’ largest marina, offering berthing for superyachts up to 120 metres. It features over 1000m of piled pontoon berths, of which 180m is available for superyachts.

The marina has a range of amenities, from superyacht services to shopping and restaurants. Eden Island Marina forms a part of the greater Eden Island development, which offers three commercial, office and retail centres. The Eden Plaza is a beautiful architectural statement, with an open-air feel and more than 50 shops. The Marina House has a number of premium restaurants, as well as a medical and marina store, catering to every single need.

Eden Island is home to four private beaches as well as some of the best snorkelling spots around Mahé, supporting an incredible array of coral species. Anse Bernitier offers a stunningly unique snorkelling experience, with a large shallow reef area with expansive coral fields.

To the right of the inlet lies a similar shallow coral area where you can expect to find vividly coloured parrot fish, squid, and hundreds of other species of fish that gather to create an  endless spectacle.
