THIS IS IT: The Unconventional Design of the Largest Charter Catamaran

By Sophia Spanton

In the world of superyachts where grandeur and opulence are the norm, Tecnomar’s THIS IS IT emerges as a revolutionary masterpiece that challenges traditional notions of luxury. The 43.5-metre motor catamaran is not just a stunning superyacht: it's a bold statement that pushes the boundaries of yacht design and engineering.

At first glance, THIS IS IT is truly captivating with its unique silhouette. The yacht's exterior, inspired by fantastic sea creatures, features sinuous lines and a curved aluminium superstructure that defies conventional yacht aesthetics. This one-of-a-kind design isn't just for show; it's a testament to Tecnomar’s commitment to innovation: consistently pushing materials and craftsmanship to their limits.

One of THIS IS IT’s most striking features is her asymmetrical layout, a rarity in naval architecture and design. This unconventional approach is complemented by over 600 square metres of panoramic glass windows, blurring the lines between interior and exterior spaces. The result of this is a yacht that offers unparalleled views and a profound connection to stunning seascapes.

Her interior, designed by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino, boasts a palette of champagne and platinum-grey, accented with high-quality leather and metallic surfaces. The owner's area is a notable highlight, featuring a 3.3-metre ceiling height, a skylight, and a vertical garden spanning two decks, creating the ambience of a seaside villa on water.

Beyond her striking aesthetics, THIS IS IT is a marvel of naval engineering. By challenging conventional design principles and integrating cutting-edge technology, Tecnomar has created a vessel that redefines what's possible in the world of superyachts. For example, THIS IS IT features an innovative hull design that utilises advanced hydrodynamic principles to enhance fuel efficiency and speed.

The incorporation of over 600 square metres of glass not only provides breathtaking views but also optimises natural light, reducing the need for artificial illumination. This commitment to integrating aesthetic appeal with functional performance showcases how Tecnomar has pushed the boundaries of traditional yacht design, setting a new standard in the superyacht industry.

THIS IS IT was officially made available for charter from April 2024, standing as a testament to the evolving nature of luxury yachting. She is the largest catamaran currently available for charter, recognised not only for her size and opulence, but for the meticulous integration of innovation and sustainability in her design, creating beautifully unique experiences on the water.
