Top 100: Building Green Giants Film Premiere Roundup

By Heather Collier

After much anticipation, the Top 100: Building Green Giants Film Premiere saw its global debut come to life this Wednesday, with over 200 guests from all corners of the superyacht sphere in attendance.

The evening began with an invitation-only preview of a historical exhibition at Burberry’s flagship store in London. Guests were welcomed with cocktails, canapés and offered a rare insight into the fashion house’s tailoring process behind their iconic trench coat silhouette.

With a world-class artisan present, guests were able to witness first-hand the stunning execution of how their renowned trench coats are made, with a chance to mingle and learn more about a staple British brand in a presentation on their lifelong commitments threaded throughout.

With the exhibition and reception coming to a close and the evening now well underway, guests began to make their way to 195 Piccadilly, the prestigious home of BAFTA (British Academy of Film, Television and Arts).

In partnership with Aston Martin, each Superyachts.com guest was offered the pleasure of being transported to the screening in style, with the film due to be showcased in a matter of moments at BAFTA’s Princess Anne Theatre; the very heart and soul of the venue.

The Princess Anne remains one of the most technologically advanced screening facilities in the world, with its projection room fervidly supported by the great Steven Spielberg – an honour for any filmmaker who wishes to showcase their work.

The scene was set with a large stage, luxurious, comfortable armchairs dedicated to members of BAFTA, perfect sightlines, and cooled air; the ultimate cinema experience on a sweltering summer’s day.

Guests were ushered to their seats and greeted with many familiar faces from the industry, a relaxed opportunity to catch up with one another before the screening began.

The Top 100 largest yachts in the world represent the pinnacle of the industry. They are the result of decades of vision, years of research and thousands of working hours.

Top 100: Building Green Giants explores the critical environmental issues that not only the superyacht industry faces, but humanity as a whole. The film delves into the key players in the industry who are at the forefront of championing and implementing sustainability, whilst also highlighting the obstacles that we must overcome in order to not only sustain our business, but our oceans.

Aided by leading maritime charity Blue Marine Foundation, the film shines a light on each partner’s brand heritage and their intrinsic connection to our waters. We come to understand the pivotal role our ocean plays, and the power of the superyacht industry, economically and technologically, to protect it.

After an emotional applause and a shared appreciation for the industry’s efforts in raising awareness, there was now the opportunity to ponder, discuss and celebrate at the premiere after-party at The Dilly hotel.

Sponsored by Edmiston, the evening’s events took place a mere stone’s throw away on The Terrace; a contemporary restaurant and bar at The Dilly; now transformed into an opulent space to indulge and unwind.

Many guests were eager to share their thoughts, and ultimately what they feel must be done to ensure a greener, safer and more efficient future for all.

"I think our care for the ocean is a necessity to keep our playground intact", says Farouk Nefzi, Chief Marketing Officer at Feadship.

"I believe this film has given us all the emotive drive to really learn from eachother and challenge eachother to make a real difference."

Superyachts.com would like to thank all of our sponsors and attendees. The premiere was an immense success, and we want to extend our congratulations to all involved.
