Turquoise Launches 74m Vallicelli-designed NB66

By Jenna Mehdi

Turkish shipyard Turquoise Yachts has announced the official launch of 74m NB66 from its Istanbul shipyard. Built for a repeat Turquoise client, NB66 was launched last week amidst a lavish ceremony in presence of her owner and their loved ones. Sporting a stylish exterior by A. Vallicelli & C. Yacht Design and interiors by Ken Freivokh, the 74m yacht is on track for delivery in September.

Cementing Turkey's leading position as a shipbuilding country of choice, Turquoise's latest launch is every bit as luxurious and aesthetically excellent as expected of the finest in modern superyacht build. Project managed by ACP Surveyors, the client shared this comment at the launch: “I am of the sea. I am happiest when I feel the wind in my hair and the sand in my feet.”

With the launch of 54m Project Tala on the horizon, and fresh off the back of 79m Project Toro’s sale announcement, Turquoise is enjoying an industrious few weeks as the world eases out of lockdown.

Designer Alessandro Valicelli observed of the 74m yacht’s exterior design: “Visually, the decks decrease progressively towards the aft end creating a profile with strong diagonal lines that create harmony between the superstructure shapes and the hull.”

As for the yacht’s interiors, Ken Freivokh and his talented team set out to create an innovative, contemporary space with an emphasis on classical elegance. Effort was made to achieve a layout of maximum integration of indoor and outdoor living, comprising continuity of lines and open plan spaces.

Large windows flood the salons, dining rooms and staterooms with plenty of natural light. The dedicated owner’s quarters on the upper deck feature wraparound windows overlooking a private seating area and two side terraces.

“The design focus is on classical elegance,” says Ken Freivokh. “The idea is to achieve a layout that has complete integration between the decks and key internal spaces— with everything designed to maximise the continuity of the yacht’s lines as well as long sightlines.”

Other highlights of Turquoise’s latest launch include an impressive multi-deck atrium in her central lobby, featuring a spiral staircase and double height sculptural space. Rich materials including carefully selected veneers, marbles, granites and hand-picked leathers define her interior palette.

NB66 accommodates 14 guests in six cabins as well as an owner’s suite with private deck and jacuzzi. Her amenities include a generous beach club, massage and steam room, indoor/outdoor gym, 7m swimming pool and elevator connecting all decks.

A touch-and-go helipad is located on the forward upper deck, and her spacious tender garage has room for a full length 9.6m limousine tender as well as multi-purpose guest tender, rescue/crew tender and plenty of toys.

We look forward to bringing readers more update on NB66 as she nears closer to delivery. For more information on Turquoise's enviable fleet visit the shipyard's company profile on Superyachts.com.
