Turquoise Yachts Launches 53m M/Y JEWELS

By Emily Dawkins

Turquoise Yachts has launched another exceptional blue superyacht. At 53m, the eye-catching 'Jewels' hit the water at the yard’s Pendik facilities in Istanbul, Turkey: becoming a welcome addition to the Turquoise fleet.

With elegant, sharp lines and a recognisable geometric profile, 53m Jewels, previously referred to as Project Talal, was warmly embraced by the industry as the newest member of the Turkish yard’s impressive fleet.

Penned by Miami-based design firm, DeBasto Designs, Jewels’ exterior validates her as yet another spectacular Turquoise build. At 720 gross tonnes, the 53m vessel offers a magnificent amount of interior and exterior space, not often found in yachts of the same size. Her exterior decks have been designed to offer plenty of entertainment space, perfect for large groups and intimate gatherings. Her spacious sundeck is home to a hot tub, TV, daybed and bar, whilst on her lower deck, she features a substantial swim platform for easy access from tender to yacht.

‘No one will feel lost. With Jewels’ enormous volume, my objective was to make the exterior less bulky and give a feeling of a forward dynamic movement, rather than a static feel’, commented Luiz DeBasto, President and Chief Designer of DeBasto Design, ‘I wanted the design to show movement and purpose from any angle. I achieved this with the long ascending line from the swim platform all the way up to the mast and down to the pilothouse windshield.’

Jewels can comfortably accommodate 18 guests across nine staterooms, including a large owner’s suite and VIP cabin located forward on the main deck.

Her interior design, which is yet to be revealed to the public eye, has been created by London-based interior design studio, H2 Yacht Design

James Bermudez, Design Director at H2 Yacht Design commented: ‘the yacht’s general arrangement is unique and highly personalized, using all available space to maximize guest accommodation. 5 guest cabins occupy the lower deck with the typical beach club area being surrendered for an extra guest cabin. The main deck retains the typical layout with the main saloon, spacious full beam owner’s suite and neighbouring VIP cabin. On the bridge deck, an extra 2 cabins have been added between the bridge and upper saloon providing accommodation for 18 guests in total.’

The interior design brief was established early in the design process with the client favouring a traditional yacht aesthetic combining classic teak joinery with gold inlays, bevel-edged mirrors, colourful textiles and highly decorative stones.’

We would like to congratulate all those involved in the successful launch of Jewels. We’re looking forward to seeing that glistening blue hull around the world very soon.
