Two Top100 Superyachts In-Build at Abeking & Rasmussen

By George Bains

Renowned German shipyard, Abeking & Rasmussen, celebrates 114 years of yacht building this month with two Top100 superyachts under construction.

The shipyard has dubbed this year the most ‘versatile’ in the company’s history, and a glance at the current order book is reason enough to get excited.

A 118m superyacht is currently in her outfitting stage which will, upon completion, become the largest yacht ever built by Abeking & Rasmussen. However, the 118m superyacht will not stay the brand’s flagship for long. Abeking has also revealed that a contract for an even larger sister yacht, of over 120m in length, was signed earlier in the summer.

Naturally, details of either project are sparse at this stage, but we look forward to following the progress and providing updates on what will undoubtedly be two stellar additions to the A&R fleet.

Adding to the versatility of Abeking & Ramussen’s year, nine superyachts have visited the German shipyard for refit and maintenance work, with more expected to follow soon. Many of these are returning Abeking vessels, demonstrating the trust that owners have in the expertise and capabilities of the shipyard.

Elsewhere, Abeking has three Multi Purpose Vessels measuring more than 90m in length each included in its order book. The shipyard has labelled these projects as some of the ‘most innovative and challenging’ in its long history.

“Working on a range of projects and technologies for different clients and purposes has always been a strength of Abeking & Rasmussen,” explains Matthias Hellmann, CFO of A&R. “Besides certain synergies we always found it very helpful to gain expertise with technologies in one market before these things were even asked for in other markets.”

As Abeking celebrates 114 years of delivering excellence, there is much more to look forward to in the future. We look forward to keeping readers up to date with the progress of Abeking & Rasmussen’s new Top100 superyachts.
