Unique 71: The Cutting Edge Superyacht Concept

By Heather Collier

Italian design studio SkyStyle has revealed designs for a futuristic superyacht concept named Unique 71. The £70million ($90million) vessel is instantly recognisable by its dramatic bow shaped like a knife, with designers revealing that "Blade" was in fact "one of the possible names during the selection."

Presented to the market with the help of Denison Yachting, the concept was first born from a meeting between Denison and SkyStyle's co-founders, Mark Pardo and Lucas Colombo.

"Denison showed great interest in the project and our intention to add new and fresh values to the yacht industry," said Colombo.

Unique 71 features an alluminium hull and superstructure, with a distinctive wedge-like profile and wraparound glass panelling.

She sleeps up to 12 guests in six cabins, consisting of a master stateroom, one VIP suite and four cabins. Crew quarters are located on the lower deck; accommodating up to 17 crew members in nine cabins. Highly spacious and designed for an event of any scale, guests can move seamlessly around each floor using the elevator amidships or the wraparound central staircase.

Onboard, the four-deck yacht features a sky lounge with a 914-sq-ft (85-sq-m) rooftop, along with a spacious water-level dining area at the stern, a sky lounge, helipad and an open-air swimming pool.

In terms of speed, her twin diesel engines will deliver a top speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots.

“In today’s world of yacht design, we are constantly pushing the boundary of what is possible both in form and function." added Denison's Alex Clarke.

"Unique 71 aims to satisfy the most challenging client. The challenge will be finding a shipyard that can understand this vision and the client’s goals. We look forward to playing a small role.”
