Notes From The Editor

Week Ending 3 June 2011-06-01

With star-studded events and great news released this week from the top shipyards and brokerage companies, the summer of 2011 is shaping up to be an amazing season for the Superyacht Industry.

Last week, Superyachts.com was proud to bring exclusive coverage from the Monaco Grand Prix and acted as an official media partner to an exclusive party organised by My Yacht Monaco. Taking place aboard the 44-metre Feadship superyacht Harle, Nicholas Frankl, the founder of My Yacht Monaco, hosted a lavish event attended by Prince Albert II of Monaco and a number of other high-profile individuals.

Leading the pack in new build news, Benetti just announced the launch of two magnificent brand new superyachts. The first in the Benetti Class line, the 28.5-metre Delfino was launched in Viareggio in northern Tuscany. As a new addition to the Custom Benetti Class, the steel hulled 60-metre FB248 (project name 'Sofia') was launched in Livorno in western Tuscany.

More exciting news emerged as, following sea trials in the North Sea, Heesen annouced the delivery of the 50-metre semi-displacement class M/Y Satori to her owner in Monaco during the Grand Prix last week.

Not to be upstaged, broker Dahm International is hosting the Club Yachting Life sailing rally this week in Ibiza after reporting six successful sales in the first five months of 2011, including closing a deal on the 30m Black Molly III last week.

Finally, yacht broker Denison hased launched its new charter division, which will focus on both Fleet Management and Yacht Vacation Services.
