Echo Yachts’ Show-Stopping VR Display at DIBS 2024

By Frances Flannagan

Attending the Dubai International Boat Show 2024 (DIBS) with a highly exciting and innovative element to its stand, Australian shipyard Echo Yachts spoke to Superyachts.com about its unique VR setup that captivated the attention of DIBS attendees.

Speaking to Chris Blackwell, Sales and Marketing Manager at Echo Yachts, Superyachts.com gained an insight into the unique VR setup of the Australian yard’s stand. This innovative experience allowed attendees to look at three new concepts in a virtual showroom, as well as being able to take part in a virtual walk-through of one of the designs.

There were a number of reasons behind this exciting element to Echo Yachts’ stand, one of which being the logistical difficulties of shipping models around the world, something which is avoided with this new system. With this virtual setup, clients can view new designs in an immersive experience, soaking up the full character of the yacht and the high-quality of the interior design, and prospective Owners can feel as though they are onboard the vessel as opposed to simply viewing it.

Unsurprisingly, Echo Yachts had a fantastic response to this initiative, as well as a great reception to the three designs themselves: a 105m Trimaran which featured in the walk-through, a 55m Catamaran support vessel, and a 62m monohull explorer yacht.

Considering the success of this system, Blackwell acknowledged how the shipyard will undoubtedly use this setup again, potentially making an appearance at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in May and the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

Blackwell commented: ‘It’s a really valuable tool for us… when you can’t bring a yacht to the show, then I think it’s the next best thing.’

Not only an effective sales tool, the VR experience is also an optional full visualisation tool for yacht Owners to walk through their new vessel to inspect the interior and exterior design before the start of the manufacturing process, showcasing the future of custom-yacht building.

DIBS remains an important boat show for Echo Yachts for multiple reasons, one of which being the shipyard’s proximity to the Middle East. For a prospective Owner based in the UAE, building a yacht with Echo Yachts is geographically convenient as well as efficient, as a unique vessel which considers environmental factors amongst other innovative design features is guaranteed.
