Largest Superyachts That Could Change Hands in 2021
Heading into a new year, it will be interesting to see how the superyacht brokerage market responds to the disruptive year that was 2020. Burgess CEO Jonathan Beckett said earlier in 2020 that he expected high-quality superyachts to enter onto the brokerage market as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The world-leading brokerage firm has a number of renowned Top100 superyachts in its superyacht fleet, and here we take a look at a few of the largest superyachts which could find new owners in 2021…
A superyacht that will perhaps forever be associated with the late Paul Allen, Octopus is the pinnacle of explorer superyachts. One of the most well-travelled superyachts in the global fleet, this is one for an adventurous owner looking to reach the most remote regions of the world in ultimate luxury.
Delivered by Lurssen in 2003, the 126m superyacht Octopus features a recognisable exterior profile and striking blue and white hull designed by Norwegian design mastermind Espen Oeino. Accommodating up to 26 guests in 13 opulent cabins, with a crew of over 60 on hand to attend to their every need, Octopus is about as close as it gets to a floating palace.
Onboard amenities for entertainment both day and night include alfresco dining facilities, a full spa, cinema, multiple lounges and plenty of toys and vehicles stored on board.
Octopus has proven her immense explorer capabilities, having taken on challenging voyages such as the Northwest Passage and Antarctica, and has even contributed to discoveries such as the wreck of WWII battleship IJN Musashi off the Philippines coast. This is certainly a superyacht that will deliver unforgettable and unique moments for her next owner.
Luminosity was one of three ‘giga yacht’ launches by Benetti in 2019 and was finally delivered earlier in 2020. With a length of 107.6m and beam of 17m, Luminosity is a statement of modern design, technology and construction.
The 5,844GT superyacht has an incredible array of luxury amenities to keep guests well entertained during private or chartered voyages. Among these is a large health club, fitted out with an elegant steam room, which opens up to become a sea-level spa.
Up to 27 guests can be accommodated in 12 luxurious suites onboard Luminosity, including an expansive owner’s suite with large terraces fore and aft. The design throughout this stunning superyacht has focused on connecting guests with nature and the outdoor environment, which has been achieved through large floor-to-ceiling windows which flood the interior with natural light and offer panoramic views across the sea.
91.5m Oceanco Superyacht Tranquility is an exhilarating prospect on the brokerage market. With ice-class capabilities and clean, sophisticated lines drawn by Winch Design, this is an exceptional superyacht for world-cruising.
Winch Design has also been the creative force behind the Eastern-inspired interiors, with a variety of exotic materials used to create luxurious and comfortable living areas for guests. An indulgent and relaxing environment is created with the use of materials such as Wenge, gold leaf, bamboo, bleached oak and Travertino Velluto marble.
The 2,998 GT superyacht has flexible guest accommodation, able to sleep between 18-22 guests in 9-11 luxurious suites. The expansive exterior decks are offer fantastic lounging areas for long days spent soaking up the sun. The upper deck features a 20sqm pool and huge sun lounging area aft on the helipad, which is certified for an Airbus EC-135 or equivalent. A large beach club on the lower deck is complete with a bar and lounge area, and has direct access to a dedicated wellness area with gym, beauty salon, sauna, hammam and plunge pool.
Another superyacht from the stellar Oceanco fleet, Barbara was launched in 2017 and is listed for sale in brand new, turnkey condition. Designed inside and out by Sam Sorgiovanni, Barbara features a distinctive six-deck layout and a curvaceous exterior profile which makes good use of structural glass throughout.
The versatile living areas are comprised of convertible deck spaces which can be used as entertainment areas with a vast wellness centre on the sundeck, complete with jacuzzi, fully equipped gym, and a large sunbed area for relaxation. A massage parlour and beauty salon on the lower deck add to the indulgence, while a large cinema is ideal for spending quality time with friends and family.
One standout features of the superyacht is a stunning teak and steel sculpture which envelops the large guest elevator, a spectacular aquarium made to mirror and aquatic reef, an outdoor cinema on the sundeck which doubles up as a helipad, and a huge lazarette ideal for watersports enthusiasts.
