Largest Superyachts That Could Change Hands in 2021

By George Bains

Heading into a new year, it will be interesting to see how the superyacht brokerage market responds to the disruptive year that was 2020. Burgess CEO Jonathan Beckett said earlier in 2020 that he expected high-quality superyachts to enter onto the brokerage market as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The world-leading brokerage firm has a number of renowned Top100 superyachts in its superyacht fleet, and here we take a look at a few of the largest superyachts which could find new owners in 2021…

126.2m Octopus

A superyacht that will perhaps forever be associated with the late Paul Allen, Octopus is the pinnacle of explorer superyachts. One of the most well-travelled superyachts in the global fleet, this is one for an adventurous owner looking to reach the most remote regions of the world in ultimate luxury.

Delivered by Lurssen in 2003, the 126m superyacht Octopus features a recognisable exterior profile and striking blue and white hull designed by Norwegian design mastermind Espen Oeino. Accommodating up to 26 guests in 13 opulent cabins, with a crew of over 60 on hand to attend to their every need, Octopus is about as close as it gets to a floating palace.

Onboard amenities for entertainment both day and night include alfresco dining facilities, a full spa, cinema, multiple lounges and plenty of toys and vehicles stored on board.

Octopus has proven her immense explorer capabilities, having taken on challenging voyages such as the Northwest Passage and Antarctica, and has even contributed to discoveries such as the wreck of WWII battleship IJN Musashi off the Philippines coast. This is certainly a superyacht that will deliver unforgettable and unique moments for her next owner.
